JANUARY 2010

I have moved my posts from an old blog to this one and I have moved one month at a time.....I have been blogging far too long to post each one on a separate day. Enjoy the below post for the month mentioned in the tag line.

Fun with resist

Ok, so as usual I had a few pieces left over from my first project, so I had to use them up on this one.

Just Because

Using up some leftovers again here.  I was playing with the JUSTRITES and sometimes what you want doesn't quite turn out...but you can always make it work somewhere.

Same technique as yesterday for the coloring of the shapes.  I just put together the pieces that were left from yesterday's project.  Stamping directly on the twill is yet another way to use your twills.  Tomorrow you will get another idea for TWILL.

Thinking of you

I got out my toys and started playing again.  My NESTIES, TWILL RIBBON and My JUSTRITE stamps are my GO-TO tools right now.

I am loving the TWILL ribbon right now for playing with all kinds of different things.  You will see it being used in a few of my recent pages and card kits too....love that stuff!  Using my LABELS 5 die from Spellbinders to create the outside shape for my words I inked in the color while it was still in the die. Makes a great white border.  The decorative flourish was stamped on the inside first to make it easier to line up when cutting out the shape.  Since the NESTIES are "see-through"  and the wood blocks from the JUSTRITE are not, this is the recommended way to do this to get perfect images lined up on your project.  I also heavily inked from the outside edge in to get the nice shading effect.  in the bottom photo you can see that the middle of the labels 5 is actually raised off the background and the edges are adhered directly to the card front.  Simple use of the ever popular pop-dot is all it take to achieve this look.  I also pop-dotted the middle die to raise it up a little more.  The twill ribbon underneath is frayed by just pulling on one little loose string and letting it go until you think you have enough "fray" to work with.  A fun way to change the look of twill.

Hi There!

Playing with my scraps again.

I went with a square card for this one, just for something different.  I pop-dotted the inner square design on the main background sheet.  I love the addition of the bling to the tree design, it just makes it fun!

Since I was in a "Tim" mood this week, I grabbed my new Stampers Anonymous stamp set and played a little more.  I love the vintage photos I downloaded from the internet.  So many photos to pick from all across the  net!

More Crackle paint

I had my paints out so another card was in order...if you're going to paint, you might as well do a few!  The paint brush is in the cap of the little cans of Crackle Paint, so actually I don't have to do any cleaning after I am done playing...all the better!!
I painted my Crackle on the black cardstock in a few thicker layers this time, just to see what would happen.....and the biggest cracks are were the thickest paint is.  I am not sure I like the thick lines, but it is a different look and you just have to try things right?  Before the paint dried though, I stamped the bird into the paint with the black ink.  Again, I just wanted to see what would happen.  It did impress the image into the paint but the crackle didn't change...but hey, I tried it and it still looks ok.  I did go back over it with the stamp and more ink to make it stand out a bit more.  The rest was just simple layers.  I didn't want to hide all the crackles with stuff.

"Love you!"

I had a chance to play with some of my Crackle Distress Paint from the Tim Holtz line.

I had a small piece of black cardstock that I thought I would experiment with, since this is the first time I have used the Crackle Paints.  I just used a regular brush to swipe on some color in a random pattern on the paper and then waited for it to dry...and crackle.  The thicker the paint the more cracked it ends up to be.  Once that was dry, I stamped on the weeds and layered the rest to finish the job.  Simple.

Blessings to you

See the shimmer in the paper?
More scrap crafting.  Leann gave me this sheet of leftover paper from her post yesterday...and this is my take on the patterned paper. Check out her blog for her card

A bunch of layers here.  I dug out a bunch of nesties for this....and what fun to play with them.  The ribbon in the Basic Grey set was perfect with this paper too....love it when that happens!!

Ahh, GRAPHIC45.  I just bought this Nestabilities Label 5 die and thought the Tags from the Fashionista Line from Graphic45 was a perfect fit.
