I have moved my posts from an old blog to this one and I have moved one month at a time.....I have been blogging far too long to post each one on a separate day. Enjoy the below post for the month mentioned in the tag line.
I like this paper from Karen Foster. It has crazy vibrant colors.
Using the DoubleMates from WorldWin I have that extra bit of color since they are a two sided cardstock. One side is lighter in color than the other side. I have trimmed the leaves from the Green Leaves paper and tucked them between the flowers cut from the Nestabilities dies. I highlighted the inside of the square frame and the sentiment frame with the technique I used the other day: leave the paper inside the die once it is cut and then gently go over the paper with a swipe of ink from the pad on a sponge or foam pad. I colored in "Changito" with the same blender pen technique from the other day too. A dab of color from the pad and swipe around the outside edge to fill in the color. Do wait until the background color is completely dry though...I didn't and my color ran a little. I was impatient!

Owl be wishing you a happy birthday
I could not find an "owl" stamp that worked for me, so I stuck with this one. It is one of my new finds from HERO ARTS, the new mini clear acrylics. I believe they are a limited edition stamp.
The green paper that I embossed the fancy swirl onto is the back side on the patterned papers. Using a piece of sandpaper to remove a bit of the color from the top of the embossing is all it takes to make a little change in the look of the embossed piece.

Simple Monochromatic
I just love the look of white on white. It makes for a pretty card.
To get the double embossing I just put both folders on at the same time. Put the larger folder on the piece of paper and then the border on where you want it placed. There will be a small space between the two designs, but a little bit of ribbon will fill in the space nicely.

Birthday Monkey
These glittery papers from BEST CREATIONS are so easy to work with. Another double sided set of papers where everything just GOES TOGETHER!!
I colored in the monkey using my blender pen and an ink pad. By dipping the end of my blender pen onto the ink pad and then drawing my color onto the stamped image I "colored" him in. Blending out the color is is as simple as wiping it on a piece of clean acid free white paper until you can't see color anymore. Basically as you use the blender pen the color runs out and you need to "reload" it. The next thing I did was put a little color on the edges of my frame for the stamped image. I did this by cutting out the Labels One image, leaving the cut image in the die and then using a sponge to dab on some ink from my ink pad. This leaves a white rim on the cut image when you remove it.

Nuts About You
I did some crafting over the weekend....I took a small bag of supplies with me to do a little creating if the weather was less than desirable. Of course, the weather was absolutely perfect the whole weekend! When the guys decided to go fishing, I got out my bag and sat on the screen porch in the sun a got crafty.
Again, it is so easy to coordinate a card when you have these fun double sided papers. Looks like I have a ton of different patterns when in fact I only used two different sheets. Basically I built a scene out of the cute critters on the "Frolic" sheet. A really fun thing to try. A lot of tedious hand cutting, but worth it in the end for a special card.

Birthday Flowers
CORE'dinations is a fun paper to work with and the WhiteWash line has that added benefit of the additional coating to play with. I have wanted to try making the torn stack flowers with this paper and finally got the chance to do it.
It is just a matter of tearing out circles of CORE'dinations paper and layering them together for the flowers. Play with different color combos and leaves for a different look.

Thank You
I finally got my hands on the Octagon Scallops to go with my Octagon NESTIES set. I am glad I have the piece to add to my COLLECTION of NESTIES!! The thing is...there are more NEW NESTIES coming....I have to make more room in my storage system for them...but they are SO worth it! I use mine a lot and they work so well in the Cuttlebug. Plus they work wonderfully with the embossing folders, just cut the shape and emboss some words or an image! Perfect harmony.
Since the patterned paper is double sided (one solid side and the dot on the other) it made it easy to mix and match them on the card front. I layered some print and solid with a nice splash of crisp white in the octagons to create the focal point. The strip of paper (yes that his papeR) running down behind the octagon is embossed with the Textile Texture folder and then sanded a little to expose some white. Once I had everything in place I took some little bling bits and put one on each "point" of the octagon.
Looking at it now I think it would look really pretty with the CUTTLEBUG's wedding couple embossed on the octagon too, but I needed a Thank You card and that is what I've got!

Happy Birthday
Another attempt at a birthday card this week. I love the Kraft paper look of Kraft Cuts by Fancy Pants!!
Another simple layered card with some "MANLY" Distress Stickles added to the stars and some stamping and inking. I drew over the top of the yellow car with some Glossy Accents to make a nice shiny coat. The buttons are attached to the side with just a piece of Wacky Tack. Love that stuff.

Lessons learned
In the COPIC class that I took. I did not go through the Certification classes but I did take an album class so I could learn a little more about the markers. The above photo is of one page of the album, a transparency and the acrylic page. The transparency can be "colored" on with the alcohol based COPIC markers without beading.
Here is just the air brushing on the acrylic page....a cool technique with many possibilities.
This is another acrylic page using a pouncing technique. Looks very similar to the alcohol inks dabbed on an acrylic page. Too fun to play. You just take a Tim Holtz distress applicator, a felt pad and some drops of the COPIC refill colors....and dab dab dab
All the materials were brought to the store by SALLY LYNN for the class, and what materials we brought in for purchase after the classes sold out. But there are plenty of different transparencies, clear acrylic albums and bling.

Time Flies
So I have been very busy with all the goings on at Picture This and I have had no time to create...until this weekend! But, I only got a few things made this weekend too. We did learn a lot during class though.
This little card is an appropriate sentiment for our weekend...it went way too fast!
I used the glitter pen to highlight the dots on the heart shape and the circle embellishment and I went back and put a little line on the edge of each little in "TIME". Looks much better in person, you'll have to see it at the store. I also used the distress tool to rough up the edges.

I LOVE TIM HOLTZ
I was checking out his blog yesterday and came across a cool video he did.
Check out this link to see the video and give this fun technique a try...I had to wait a whole day to finally get my hands on all the tools!!! I didn't think I had any glossy paper and then I dug through my immense stash and what do you know..........I had 6 sheets!! SWEET deal. So, I took my compressed air, glossy sheets and alcohol inks and went to town!!
And a can of compressed air (the kind you use on a computer to clean the keyboard or CPU)....
Totally fun!! I know, my margarita glasses are a little crooked (really, I was not drinking..lol) but I don't care...I liked the background look and didn't want to through the piece out. So watch the video or......take a few drops of alcohol ink and then take the compressed air and give it a little shot. Make sure your space is ready for the mess!! The ink sprays out in a little splat on the paper and depending on how far away you are with the nozzle it will change how the splat looks. Play with it....it is totally fun! I am getting out my neutral colors next to try one with a deer or something.....gotta play.....

Birthday Bike
I had some leftover scraps from a project I was working on this week and a new set of stickers to play with...and VOILA...a card. This is the best part of scrapbooking...making use of those matching leftover bits and pieces.
I just loved these stamp looking stickers from Mrs. Grossman's and just had to buy a set. I love the new vintage look to them. Plus they are embossed with a little bit of foiling...a fun bonus! The other bonus is that the sticker worked perfectly with the papers I was playing with for my most recent card kit.

Imagination
I have been wanting to try this ruffled twill design for a while and I finally got around to giving it a go. I LIKE it!
I LOVE working with the Tim Holtzy stuff (bet you didn't guess that at all...) and the Stampers Anonymous stamps are SOOO cool. Not sure if we have this particular set in the store, but I have had it a little while and still love using it. Using my Tim Distress inks is another favorite tool of choice too. The paper I was using has some cute flowers in the background that I was working around and they got covered up with my stuff. But it does make a nice background.
To get the twill down I just put some double sided tape and pushed it down with my finger...easy as pie. I might stitch it down yet, but I think I like I this way.
It's a no purpose artsy card I can send to a friend. It was fun to just craft.
